SUMMER WEEKDAY TRAINING IN NYC
Thanks to Stefan Slutsky for putting this all together again.
We are very pleased to offer - this year again - our SUMMER TUESDAYS orienteering training series in New York City.
During the summertime it becomes dark only after 8-8:30pm, therefore there is a time window after regular business hours to complete a 30 minutes orienteering course in one of the city's many parks.
Training will be held on very detailed recently created/updated sprint color maps.
Scale varies from 1:5,000 to 1:3,000. Contours - from 2.5m to 1m.
Expect Staples printing quality.
IMPORTANT! Let Stefan know at least 20 hours prior to the training whether you intend to come by email to ungvar1@optimum.net (indicate in the subject the name of the appropriate park) or by texting Stefan Slutsky via Messenger.
The start time - between 6:00 pm and 7:20 pm.
On each training session only ONE course will be offered. However, you may ask in advance for a White or Yellow course.
If anyone needs instructions, please let Stefan know (via the above mentioned email or Messenger) in advance and come at 5:30 pm.
Training will take place in any weather conditions, except severe storms.
The courses will be pre-printed, although - if needed - you may copy your course from the master map.
At the controls' location, you will find either pink or red ribbons, or smaller versions of a control flag (6"x6").
If more than 15 people sign up for the training, we would provide e-punching on some or even all controls. Bring your own SI stick. If less than 15 people sign up, expect no punching of any kind.
Have a fanny pack (or something of that sort) to carry all your valuables with you all the time. We will do our best to have a person to keep their eye on your clothes while you are on the course.
Donations of $5 will be very appreciated ($7 if the course printed on two or more maps/sides or on 11"x17" paper).
IMPORTANT! These are training courses, not organized events!
Each participant in any or all of the Summer Tuesdays Training events assumes full responsibility for any and all injuries, losses and damages that he or she incurs while attending or participating in the Summer Weekdays Training events.
Please observe traffic regulations (if applicable), do not trespass onto private properties, respect properties, respect others' right to move freely in the park.
