Westmoreland Raid the Sanctuary

Westmoreland Sanctuary and HVO are again joining together for their annual Raid the Sanctuary.

This event is a challenging adventure run that incorporates different types of orienteering and other elements.

Advanced courses

• Viking Course:

  • 10.0km,  29 controls

  • 4 different types of O (Regular/corridor/line/scatter)

• Visigoth Course

  • 7.1km, 29 controls

  • 4 different types of O (regular/corridor/line/scatter)

• Gnomes (Old Elves):

  • 3.9 km, 15 controls,

  • 3 different types of O (Regular/corridor/scatter)

Pre-registration for advanced courses is required and is now open until Friday May 15 at noon. 

Vikings/Visigoth mass start at 10.00 a.m. Gnomes starts 10.00-12.00.
 

Beginner/Intermediate courses
If you have never been orienteering competitively before, we encourage you to participate with a friend who has and run the Gnomes, or run the beginner/intermediate courses below:

• Yellow/White: 2.3km/11/10 controls (beginner)

• Orange: About 3.3km/12 controls (intermediate)

These will be standard orienteering courses. Beginners’ instruction will be available.

Pre-registration for beginner/intermediate courses is preferred and is now open until Friday May 15 at noon. If you are not pre-registered there will be a limited number of maps available for each course on the day of the event.

White, Yellow and Orange courses starts between 10.00-1.00.

Advanced Course Fees
For members of Westmoreland, HVO and local orienteering clubs:

• Viking Course: $15

• Visigoth: $15

• Gnome: $10.

For non-members:

• Viking Course: $25

• Visigoth: $25

• Gnome: $15

 
Groups add $5 (member) or $7 (non-member) per person (max 2 in a group for Vikings and Visigoths, 3 for gnomes)

Beginner/Intermediate Course Fees
For members of Westmoreland, HVO and local orienteering clubs:

• $7 (adult members)

• $5 (junior members, i.e., 18 or under)

For non-members:

• $15 (adult non-members)

• $10 (junior non-members, i.e., 18 or under)

Groups: each additional person $5.
