The event start location (see pin drop in map below) is on the northern end of the park, in the picnic area near the little league baseball field and nature center. The closest park entrance is at Indian Road and 218th street.

Come run/walk on a newly expanded map of Inwood Hill Park, located on the northern tip of Manhattan. This is a beginner and family friendly event, with additional courses for more experienced orienteers.
Registration
Pre-registration is appreciated (so we can better estimate the number and types of course maps to print).
Groups
If you are registering for a group, only one person from the group needs to register and indicate the group size and course that the group will participate in together.
Cost
As per the park's policy, payment is not required for participation in this event. Donations are welcome but not required.
Courses
WHITE/YELLOW (Beginners) - 1.7km, 35m, 9 controls
ORANGE/BROWN (Intermediate) - 3.1km, 125m, 13 controls
GREEN/RED (Advanced) - 5.4km, 230m, 26 controls
Punching
Electronic punching (SportIdent) will be utilized.
Bring your SI card (e-punch) or borrow one at the registration ($40 replacement fee for lost/unreturned e-punches).

Parking
The park does not have a parking lot. Park your vehicle on streets in the neighborhood. A local parking garage to consider is located at 4055 10th Avenue.
Public transportation
Take north bound A subway to the last stop - Inwood/207 Street station, exit to Isham Street and walk from there 1/2 mile.
Alternatively, take north bound 1 subway to 215 Street and walk from there 1/2 mile. Or take Metro North railroad to Marble Hill Station and walk from there 3/4 mile.
Terrain
The area consist of two distinctly different parts:
a) slightly hilly, semi-open, easy to run urban park with several baseball fields, tennis courts and playgrounds, etc.;
b) steep, rocky, forested, glacier-carved terrain with extensive trail system. Trails are mainly paved. There are plenty of cliffs and bare rocks. Vegetation varies - from thick, difficult to run spots to easy to traverse patches.
On the south and western slopes, one may encounter POISON IVY.
For Orange/Brown and Green/Red courses shorts are NOT RECOMMENDED.
On the Green/Red course, spiked running shoes are a good choice.
Two highway roads and high speed train tracks cross the area.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ONE MAY WALK ALONG OR CROSS THEM!
USE UNDERPASSES to get on the other side of highways.
There are no controls on the other side of high speed train tracks.
